2016 REALTOR® Safety Day

Safety first! It cheers us to see so many members taking their well being so seriously by attending SVAR's REALTOR® Safety Day. Special thanks go to our presenters - Colonial Heights PD Crime Prevention Senior Officer Kyle Sexton, Prince George PD Community Policing Officer Sgt. John Vasquez, Crater Criminal Justice Academy adjunct instructor Rod Davis, The Smoking Gun's Jeff Picci, Damsel in Distress' Michelle Wachtel and SVAR's own Barbara Chamber - for their potentially life-saving information. Congrats to all who won door prizes and to those who awarded them. But the biggest winners were ... EVERYONE! The self-defense and awareness techniques they learned today may someday safe their lives.

2016 Picnic

Fall, y'all! Here's how we welcome the season in SVAR - with the best annual Members' Picnic you can imagine! More than 120 showed up tonight at Home Builders Pavilion in Petersburg ready to chow down, dance, compete and just have a good time! Brothers Nick and David Hayes emerged victorious as two-time corn hole champs among a field of 12 teams, while 1st Choice Realty and Parr and Abernathy tied for best booth at the Harvest Home-themed event. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Abernathy was honored as REALTOR emeritus by NAR for her long and distinguished career. Thanks to sponsors HMS Home Warranty, Hayes Inspection, Commission Express, Atkinson Insurance Company, J.G Wentworth, Virginia Properties and Old Dominion Title for making the evening possible and to the picnic committee for all of it's hard work!

2014 Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

Oh, the drama! (Literally!) The spotlight shined on Swift Creek Mill Playhouse when real-estate industry professionals turned actors for the Southside Virginia Association of REALTORS' second annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. Murder, mystery, mayhem and and a little CSI-type sleuthing, too, made for a memorable and interactive evening, during which guests enjoyed a specially-written script for the occasion, a meal and the camaraderie of trying to figure out just "whodunit." The cast featured members Butch Fulcher as philandering victim Thomas Whittingham, Mary Ann White as Alexandria Whittingham, Melinda Sexton as Claudia Lewis, Scott Whittle as Richard Widdle, Stephanie Stables as Sophia Redman, Cathie Gray as Paula Collin, Eileen Knode as Detective Briggs and special guest Vickie Zevgolis as Elizabeth Mann. So, whodunit? "Wife" Alexandria Whittingham and "mistress" Sophia Redman.
